Abbotsford, British Columbia


Abbotsford () is a Canadian city, in the Fraser Valley Regional District of British Columbia. It is the fifth largest municipality in British Columbia and the thirty-seventh largest in Canada, home to 123,864 people in 2006. The population for the Census Metropolitan Area was 159,020. (2006) (23rd in Canada). The city and CMA are part of the Fraser Valley District, where in 257,031 (2006) people live just to the east of Greater Vancouver, both located in the Lower Mainland of BC. Abbotsford is situated immediately north of the Canada-US border, across from Sumas, Washington. In Canada, it is south of Mission, east of Langley and west of Chilliwack. Most of the city has dramatic views of Mount Baker, a large glacier-clad volcano less than 100km from Abbotsford.
